The Auvers-sur-Oise Festival and the Musée d’Orsay will celebrate their respective anniversaries together, 45 years for the Festival and 40 years for the Museum. In order to celebrate these anniversaries with splendor, the Auvers-sur-Oise Festival commissioned from the French composer, Thierry Escaich, a Symphonic Poem for cello and orchestra inspired by 3 paintings by Renoir (Les canotiers de Chatou – La danse – Le bal du moulin) for the 40th anniversary of the Museum and 3 paintings by Van Gogh (The roots – The wheat field with the crows – The church) which gave its fame to Auvers-sur-Oise by creating nearly 80 of the most famous paintings during the 70 days spent in this artists’ village. The solo part is entrusted to the young and charismatic cellist Anastasia Kobekina, discovered by the Auvers-sur-Oise Festival in 2014, who has since become a cello star on international stages.
With the Paris Chamber Orchestra led by its musical director, the German violinist and conductor Thomas Hengelbrock, Anastasia will put all her poetry and virtuosity at the service of this world creation written by the godfather of the organ of the Notre-Dame church in Auvers-sur-Oise, Thierry Escaich. unique figure on the contemporary music scene: currently one of the most performed composers in the world, Escaich is also a world-renowned organist and one of the major ambassadors of the French school of improvisation. Member of the Academy of Fine Arts since 2013 and appointed titular organist of the great organ of Notre-Dame de Paris in 2024, this complete musician combines creation, improvisation and interpretation at the highest level in his concerts, the three aspects of his art being inseparable. The program also includes Saint-Saëns’ Symphony No. 2 and Stravinsky’s Pulcinella, vibrant works that dialogue with the light and emotions dear to Renoir and Van Gogh. A grandiose concert which is part of the celebration of the two anniversaries.
