LA MAÎTRISE DE PARIS

The Maîtrise of Paris is a Conservatoire’s Regional Department in Paris. It is mix since 1992 and recruits children from the age of 8. The alumni receive a complete musical training: polyphony, musical training, vocal technique, instrumental practice. The Maîtrise gives often concerts in France and abroad with prestigious conductors: Seiji Ozawa, The Paris Orchestra, The National Orchestra of Ile-de-France, The Philharmonic Orchestra of Radio France The Capitole’s Orchestra of Toulouse, The London Symphony Orchestra, The Orchestral Ensemble of Paris.

The repertoire approached by The Maîtrise is rich in diversity: creation of the jazz opera “Journal d’un usager de l’espace II” by Didier Lockwood (Opera Bastille) , “Le songe d’une nuit d’été” by Mendelssohn (Mogador Theater– Dir : M.Minkowski), “L’enfance du Christ” by Berlioz (Orchestral ensemble of Paris -Dir :John Nelson), “Les scènes de Faust” by Schumann (Paris Orchestra – Dir : C. Eschenbach -Salle Pleyel) , “Shadows of time” of Henri Dutilleux (Dir :Michel Plasson- Salle Pleyel) with the composer, “Carmen” of Bizet (Dir : Marc Minkowski -Châtelet) , creation of the operetta “Le Verfügbar aux enfers” by G.Tillion (Châtelet), “La Damnation de Faust” by Berlioz (Boston Symphony Orchestra et Tanglewood choir – Dir :James Levine -Salle Pleyel), the “Trois petites liturgies de la présence divine” by Messiaen (Orchestral Ensemble of Paris – Dir : John Nelson) ,”3rd Symphony” of Mahler (Budapest’s Orchestra -Salle Pleyel) , “The Magic Flute” of Mozart (roles of the 3 geniuses – Monte Carlo’s Opera).

In 2009, three teams of 7 soloist children have created a musical show “Le voyage de Pinocchio” under the direction of Sandrine Anglade. There has been a tour of 37 concerts all over France. The season has ended with 2 concerts given at the International Festival of Music of Colmar, and for the Opus 29 of the Festival d’Auvers sur Oise, under the direction of Patrick Marco.

The Maîtrise of Paris has received the choral singing price Liliane Bettencourt awarded by the Beaux-Arts Academy as well as the Coup de Cœur of the Academy Charles Cros for its first volume of the “Songs of France” published at the Editions Gallimard-Jeunesse in 2001. It is sponsored by the city of Paris and by the DRAC Ile-de-France. It is also supported by the Foundation Bettencourt Schueller and by the Foundation Safran for the Music. The musical Direction of the Maîtrise de Paris is ensured by Patrick Marco.

In 2009/2010, The Maîtrise de Paris sings the War Requiem of Britten (Dir : Ingo Metzmacher (Paris’ Orchestra), “Persephone” of Stravinsky (Cité de la Musique- Accentus) , the Stabat Mater of Haydn (Folies Françoises – dir :P. Cohen-Akenine). They have the honor to be invited for the second time at the 30th anniversary of the Auvers-sur-Oise Festival in June 2010. They sang the Petite Messe Solennelle of Rossini Under the direction of Patrick Marco and received the honors of the musical critics from all over the world.
